Success of Italy in the United States

Blue GrottoENIT New York: “2007 a good year for Italy”: “2007 can be defined as a favourable year for tourism”, stated Riccardo Strano, the Director of the ENIT office in the USA, while discussing the progress of the summer season for incoming from North America.”We are registering a trend on the rise that is also the result of promotion that is coherent with proposed tourism products. Large cultural events united with wine and food itineraries, wellness and shopping are a unique and very valued offer on this market.” For American tourists Rome, Florence and Venice continue to be the Italian destinations with the greatest market shares, while interest in smaller, less crowded cities, towns and historic villages is growing. According to Strano, airline Conversano Castleconnections, which increased during the high season of 2007, are also good.  With Travel Mall you can do your reservations as many other North American tourists have done before, you can book your hotels in Rome in Florence and in Venice, but you can also explore the smaller towns that have a big success nowadays.

Next exhibitions & events in Italy

We start this brief information article about the events and exhibitions you can visit in Italy in the following days and months with the city of Florence.

In Florence from March 2nd until July 29th there is: Cézanne in Florence  at the CezanneStrozzi Palace. The exhibition will show paintings coming from the most important international collections as the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the National Gallery and the Royal Academy of London, the Ermitage and so on. The exhibition will show also some important paitings of Van Gogh, Sargent, Denis, Cassat, Weir and La Farge. Book your hotel in Florence on Travel Mall and visit this wonderful exhibition.

In Rome from January 26th to May 6th: Annibale Carracci at the “Chiostro del Bramante”. An exhibition of 160 paintings and drawings by the Bolognese artist who Carraccilived and worked many years in Rome, as well as in Naples, Tuscany and Venice. Carracci perpetuates the dictates of the Italian Renaissance, creating highly realistic works characterised by a very decisive use of colour. The artist’s brush returns to the classical dictates of painting, reacting to the mannerist style of the period, while remaining firmly anchored to tradition. With Travel Mall online booking you can reserve your hotel in Rome and have your chance to visit this exhibition.

In Milan until March 25th: With Henry’s eyes at Forma. Henry Cartier-Bresson (1908 Chanteloup - 2004 L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue) caught many intense moments in the Bressonphotographs he took all over Europe, Asia and America. In search of reality, he used his images of people to record the political, economic and artistic changes of the 20th century. Some of the captions fail to contextualize the issues and subjects but the exhibition offers a generous selection of his work. Over two hundred contemporary photos (both unusual and classic), period prints, drawings and documents provide a profile of the great master of the 1900s. The easyest way to stay in Milan is to book a hotel on Travel Mall.

These are just ideas, come back soon to read about other proposals and check often on Travel Mall website for updated offers.

Panoramic of tourism news from Italy

Welcome in our blog, a new voice for tourism in Italy. In this post we would like to let you know how private companies and government bodies are working really hard to improve the tourist offer in Italy. This week we begin to write about Rome that, in an important meeting on tourism, was shown as a model to follow all over Italy.

The Roman secret, was said, is to combine tourism, cultural heritage and events, trying also to threw out Rome Colosseuminnovative ideas; this is the only way to follow for a true new success of Italian tourism. A first confirmation of this came few days ago from the rating company “Standard & Poors” that assigned an “A+” to the economy budget of the city of Rome consolidating the trend of the last years. Also the overall reservations in the hotels of Rome confirm this new trend.

In the most part of Italy yards connected to tourism are working really hard. In the Liguria region, where Genoa & Santa Margherita Ligure are located and where tourism has now a positive trend since many years, there are projects for “sea railways” in order to use the sea as a tourist and public transportation mean. The Emilia Romagna region, with the famous cities and towns of Bologna and Parma, among the others, is investing a lot of money in the airports. The ponte-vecchio.jpgAbruzzo region is working hard in view of the Mediterranean Games of 2009. As Florence has the ambition to become part of the 250 “provincial capital” of the world, their public managers are studying special promotions of cultural events and they are projecting a new event to set up during the low season. Naples, after the “restyling” of last years, is focusing on safety along 7 tourist itineraries and all hotels in Naples are ready to pamper their guests.
